Health insurance and information

If you live and work in the Netherlands, you need health insurance to be able to get a permanent doctor. Some employers work only with certain companies, offering group insurance options for their employees. You can choose your health insurance yourself in the Netherlands and register here if you have a BSN number and Dutch address. Because you are insured, you will be fully reimbursed for general practitioner care.

With the health insurance you do have an own risk, you can determine this amount yourself, it starts from € 350 and increases. The moment you need additional research such as X-rays, an ultrasound or blood test, this will be deducted from your own risk. You have to pay this yourself up to the chosen amount. Medicines that are prescribed are also deducted from your own risk. When your amount is reached, it will be reimbursed by the insurance.

Not all medication is reimbursed, there are creams that are not reimbursed or you have to pay a personal contribution for certain medication.
